It can also be used as an additional procedure for, for example, face lift. The fat is taken from your own body through special small needles, so-called Coleman’s technique. This is done under local anesthetic and sedative medication (sedation), the fat is cleansed and treated before it is injected with a special syringe into the desired area of the chin.
It is assumed that you have areas where you can get fat from to move it to the desired area. The amount of fat depends on the volume of the area you want to correct. Mostly it is about relatively small amounts of fat. It is advantageous to take fat from an area that needs correction at the same time, such as combining liposuction of the stomach or thighs with the correction of the face and lips.
Usually the fat (integrates) the fat integrates well in the receiving area, but it must be assumed that the body absorbs (sucks) approx. 30% of the fat in the first few months (slightly less on the face), so you fill a little more than you need (over-correct) to compensate for this. Minor irregularities can therefore occur after surgery that can be corrected within the warranty period.
It must be remembered that smoking, stress, exposure to sunlight, moderate to severe overweight, alcohol overuse and poor diet are some of the factors that not only accelerate aging and increase the risk of complications, but also reduce the possibility of a cosmetically successful result. At the consultation you will be thoroughly considered with regard to the whole and area where you should take the fat. If there is an indication of other interventions, this is considered whether it should be done simultaneously or in a separate operation.
In a standard chin enlargement with your own fat you get small scars of 0.5 mm, where the needles need to insert to inject the fat. In order to achieve optimal results and to avoid complications, it is recommended that you have as normal weight as possible and adhere to the conditions mentioned above as far as possible. If you smoke, you must quit at least 1 week before surgery and be non-smoking for 2 weeks after surgery.
We close the wound with only tape and sometimes with small stitches that dissolve by themselves. The operation does not provide grounds for sick leave. Physical exercise and hard physical work should wait about 2 weeks. We recommend that you tap the scars for a few months after surgery.
To get optimal results and avoid complications
Avoid stress, stay out of the sun, eat healthily, keep your weight within a normal BMI range, exercise regularly, and refrain from alcohol for 2 days prior to surgery and 2 weeks after surgery. Please refrain from smoking for at least 1 week before surgery and a minimum of 2 weeks after surgery as smoking can interfere with the final result.
Downtime following surgery
Heavy physical exercise and strenuous body movement or lifting must not be undertaken for a minimum of 2 weeks following the surgery.
You can still move and do normal everyday things the day after surgery.
The final results will emerge between 3 to 6 months following surgery. There is very rarely disappointment in the patient’s perception of the success of the surgery
