If the breasts are very large, the same procedure as a female breast reduction would apply. (See Breast reduction).
It is important that a thorough assessment is made with your surgeon at your initial consultation. One must remember that the procedure will leave scars around the nipple or below the chest. The operation can be performed under local anesthesia and sedation as well.
The wound is closed either with sutures that dissolve themselves, or sutures that must be removed after 10 days.
The operation provides in principle the basis for sick leave. Physical training and hard physical labor, one should wait for 2-3 weeks. You get be given a compression garment, which must be worn for 6 weeks day and night.
In the first instance the scars are often red, itchy and hard, but with time they fade and soften. In rare cases, scars whiten and become clearly visible dependent on your own inherent characteristics.
To get optimal results and avoid complications
Avoid stress, stay out of the sun, eat healthily, keep your weight within a normal BMI range, exercise regularly, and refrain from alcohol for 2 days prior to surgery and 2 weeks after surgery. Please refrain from smoking for at least 1 week before surgery and a minimum of 2 weeks after surgery as smoking can interfere with the final result.
Downtime following surgery
Heavy physical exercise and strenuous body movement or lifting must not be undertaken for a minimum of 2 weeks following the surgery.
You can still move and do normal everyday things the day after surgery.
The final results will emerge between 3 to 6 months following surgery. There is very rarely disappointment in the patient’s perception of the success of the surgery
