Socorro Nicaragua is a humanitarian organization founded on the 5th of September. 2004. The main purpose of the project is the improvement of children and young people’s conditions of growth and quality of life. At the same time to create a future through education and leisure activities. Also combating child labor, abuse and sexual abuse, preventive health and improvement of housing conditions. All this in collaboration with home and school and the community at large.
The project is run in the Mario Quan district of León. A poor neighborhood north of the capital Managua. Many families live here in very difficult conditions, several of whom were evacuated here after Hurricane Mitch in 1998. Many of the children are orphans.
The organization is run from Norway by very enthusiastic Norwegian nurses. This work is essentially done on a voluntary basis. This has made a big impression on us in Oslo Plastic Surgery. We therefore want to support this effort and wish good luck with the work.
